Is NEC gaining traction outside the UK, or does FIDIC remain the more practical choice for global projects?

While FIDIC still dominates globally, especially in infrastructure and government-funded projects, NEC is slowly gaining ground, particularly in Commonwealth countries and regions influenced by UK contracting culture (e.g., South Africa, New Zealand, Hong Kong). NEC’s emphasis on collaboration, clarity, and project management aligns well with modern procurement trends — especially where clients want more transparency and proactive risk management.
